Rare is the young intoxicating talent of Julia Othmer.
Fair-skinned and flame-haired, Julia rocks her audience while undulating behind the piano. She croons, moans, and whispers into the microphone, delivering an impassioned and indelable performance. Combining elements of rock, pop, jazz, and lounge, Julia's intimate tunes engage her audiences with their raw and earthy magnetism.
Originally from Kansas City, Julia first recorded a demo in San Fransisco with Myron Dave, rhythm guitarist and bassist for Santana. One track from these sessions, "Mission Control", was chosen for the theme song for SpaceStation:SIM, a playstation 2 game that was released in Spring 2004. I was also selected as "Best Rock Song" at the 5th Annual Pitchathon in Philadelphia, hosted by NARAS (National Academy of Recording Artists and Sciences).
Julia was most recently nominated at the Philly Music Awards as "Best Femal Entertainer", "Best Female Vocalist", and "Best Keyboardist:. Already in her young career, she has shared the stage with Phil Roy, Regina Spekter, eastmountainsouth, John Flynn, and jazz icons Bobby Watson and Ida McBeth.
Julia regularly performs at Philadelphia's Grape Street, The Point, the Kimmel Center, and sold out shows at the Tin Angel, as well as drawing large crowds at Manhattan's Cutting Room and Fez Under Time Cafe.
She likes orchids and conversations with holy men. She loves the jungle and stilettos she can walk in.
