Askold Buk
Askold Buk is a composer and artist living in New York City. His self-produced debut record has received airplay in over 30 markets, and was added to the playlist of The Groove Boutique, a nationally-syndicated smooth jazz radio show hosted by Rafe Gomez. His previous band Sweatbox appeared on the soundtrack of Blixa Bargeld Stole My Cowboy Boots, an entry in the 1996 Sundance Film Festival.
Currently, Buk is writing, performing and producing the music to episodes of the award-winning weekly PBS documentary series "Frontline". He recently scored episodes of ABC Primetime with Diane Sawyer and Peter Jennings: "In Search of America".
In addition, Buk keeps busy as a studio musician--he's done jingles for AT&T, Panasonic, Samsung, Versace and Macy's among others. He records and produces New York and New Jersey-based artists as well.
Buk developed a series of highly-acclaimed guitar videos, where he played with and interviewed luminaries such as B.B. King, John Scofield, Albert Lee, Steve Morse, Jack Bruce and Hank Marvin. In addition, he wrote The Advanced Guitar Case Chord Book and Practical Pentatonics (Music Sales), which are distributed internationally.
Askold's most recent score was for the Documentary "Obscene" on the life of Barney Rosset of Grove Press and Evergreen Review.
